Thematic Groups

The Annual Meetings of the Network

We convene our Members and all interested public development agencies and implementing bodies of the EU Member States to meet on an annual basis. The Annual Meeting is usually hosted by the Core Group member holding the chair.

At our Annual Meetings, we

identify and exchange on priority themes or areas to be tackled by the Network

define policy and strategy making as well as agree on working programmes

share the results developed by the Thematic Groups

work together on specific issues in break-out groups

All European Development Cooperation practitioners (public institions in charge of implementing the ODA of their coutry or on behalf of the EU) are welcome to participate to the Annual Meetings of the Network, be they registered Members or not.

Annual Meeting 2009

In 2009 the Annual Meeting of the Practitioners' Network was hosted by the Czech Development Agency in Prague, on 12 and 13 of May.

Some of the main issues for discussion were the consequences of the global economic crisis, as well as possible options to set up a permanent secretariat of the Network.

Previous Annual Meetings

Vienna, 21-22 April 2008

The third Annual Meeting of the Network was hosted by the Austrian Development Agency. The main topics were :
- Aid efficiency, on the road to Accra
- Co-financing between the EU-Commission and bilateral institutions

The second meeting of European development practitioners was hosted by KfW. This is where participants decided to create the Practitioners' Network as an informal platform, in order keep up regular contacts and to foster exchange of information, discussion and coordination between European Practitioners.
