Upon the initiative of a few bilateral development agencies for the account of the Practitioners, first contacts and reflexions on specific subjects have taken place between development actors and members of the Development Committee (DEVE) of the European Parliament.
The DEVE committee is responsible for issues related to the promotion, implementation and monitoring of the development and cooperation policy of the Union. Therefore, a regular dialogue with development Practitioners will enable the Committee to enrich its vision of European development cooperation with concrete expericence and will enable Practitioners to better understand the needs and questions of the European Parliament.
The KfW representative officer in Kigali (Rwanda), Mr Kleingebiel, participated to a public hearing of donors, partner countries and experts organised by the Development Commission of the European Parliament on the issue of Budget Support.

In August 2008, a first meeting took place between members of the DEVE committee and high-level representatives of AFD, KfW and CzDA (President of the Network). Besides presentations of the development agencies and their activities, the main message that came out of the meeting is that the existing relationships between European practitioners enable them to have complementary approaches to development issues and to elaborate in some cases an integrated European offer, together with EU institutions (Commission and EIB).
