Members of the network

The Network is open to all European Agencies and Administrations involved in the implementation of ODA.

Its current members are the implementing organisations of the European Commission and of European countries representing over 70% of the ODA of the European Union.

Activities

We have identified a limited number of broad issues which we have considered relevant for collaboration between practitioners on a relatively long term. This is why we have created 4 thematic groups. Thematic groups propose joint works on specific issues within their domain and coordinate other initiatives related to that overall theme.

But our activities are not limited to the already defined themes. We want to remain flexible and the Network can support any initiative or request by one member to organise meetings, workshops, secondments or whatever solution to work together on a particular issue or project which is relevant for European development practitioners.

Creation of a permanent coordination office

The Directors of the practitioner' Network member institutions got together during the European Development Days and committed the financial contributions needed to set up a permanent network coordination office.

The coordination office will be based in Brussels. It is expected to be in place by spring 2010. In the meantime, secretariat functions are carried out further by KfW. 

Annual Meeting 2010

This year, the annual meeting will be hosted by AECID in Spain, near Madrid, probably during the last week of May. The dates will be communicated by AECID in due time.  

EDD 2010

The European Development Days will take place this year in Brussels, on 9 and 10 December. Preliminary information is available following the 1^st stakeholder meeting which took place on 3 February 2010. 

Joint training initiative, 18 Feb. 2010

V-EZ and CEFEB, the respective training centres of InWent and AFD, invite all interested practitioners to a one-day seminar, dedicated to the launching of a common initiative in the field of human resources and training. The seminar will take place in Bad Honnef near Bonn (Germany), on 18 February 2010.

Purpose of the meeting will be to analyse the needs of participating institutions and to define priorities in order to set up rapidly first joint training and joint networking programmes.

Marketplace on innovative finance, 4-5 March 2010

The Agence Française de Développement (AFD), the World Bank and the Bill et Melinda Gates Foundation invite development actors to a Marketplace on Innovative Financial Solutions for Development in Paris on March 4-5.

The Marketplace will bring together development practitioners, donors, philanthropists, social entrepreneurs, academics, representatives from a range of financial institutions, and policy makers.

This will be an opportunity for practitioners to share experiences, operational challenges and emerging lessons in a modality which has grown rapidly over the past few years.

How to include CDM into development cooperation projects

The workshop will focus on the joint assessment of the current situation and of the options and opportunities to make use of the CDM vehicle for the financing of our projects and programs. It has been tentatively scheduled for March 29th, 2010 at KfW Headquarters Frankfurt, Germany.

Donors' domestic accountability Seminar, 15-16 December 2009

A wide group of development actors met in Paris for a 1,5 day conference and debate about questions raised by the accountability of development agencies in their own countries towards their governments, parliaments, civil societies etc.

Seminar on MDG reporting, Frankfurt, 10 November 2009

Providing evidence of the contribution of our actions to the MDG will become an all the more important issue as the MDG conference in New York in September 2010 is approaching (ten years after the millenium declaration).

A group of development practitioners met on 10 November 2009 at the invitation of KfW to exchange views, on the basis of a comparative study of existing project assessment methodologies and further to the presention of KfW MDG reporting tool.
